While most schools renew their accreditation every 7-10 years, the standards of Guadalupe Regional Middle School (GRMS) are tested every few years through an accreditation-style evaluation conducted through various memberships. While the accrediting body, Texas Catholic Conference Education Department (TCCED), conducts the only official accreditation of the school, the NativityMiguel Coalition and the Congregation of Christian Brothers have their own rigorous and comprehensive process by which GRMS holds itself accountable.
For each instance, GRMS must engage in a self-study procedure, sometimes taking up to one year to complete. The entire school community is often engaged in assessing different standards, including but not limited to, admission, spiritual development, communications, academics, athletics, student life, and administration.
These evaluations and accreditations are important because they ensure the quality of the education a student will receive.
“The accreditation makes sure that we are meeting or surpassing standards,” said Michael Motyl, GRMS President. “At GRMS, we are blessed with the challenge of meeting the standards of our membership coalitions and congregations, as well. The evaluations rotate, so our faculty and staff have the opportunity to reflect regularly as a team.”
