Graduate Support Director

Summary of Position:

The Graduate Support Director is a full-time position responsible for implementing GRMS’s Graduate Support Program. This position reports directly to the President and is part of the President’s Cabinet.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Alumni Council

  • Manage, organize, and meet with the GRMS alumni council to help further the overall efforts of the Graduate Support Program

  • Lead the alumni council in planning/organizing social events and service opportunities

Current Student Support

- In cooperation with Principal, assist 8thgrade students and families in the process of applying for high schools- collect and distribute information on various Catholic, public, charter, and boarding schools

- Arrange “High School Information Night”- High school staff coming to the school to give presentations to GRMS 8thgrade students and their families

- Disseminate information on Open Houses of high schools in the area, and attend them with groups of students when possible

- Foster ongoing relationships with the admissions staff and school leadership at local high schools, in an effort to better position our students for smooth transition to high school

High School Support

  • Work with graduates who are now in high school, acting as an academic guide, a support for the student (help deal with problems related to school, family, and other issues), and an avenue for communication between the family and the school

  • Assist students/families with financial aid and other important paperwork

  • Organize opportunities for alumni to receive/provide tutoring

  • Assist Juniors and Seniors with the college admissions process, including preparing them for college entrance exams, researching and visiting colleges, and assisting with the applications for financial aid

  • Coordinate required volunteer hours for high school students completed at GRMS and work with staff to ensure that graduate volunteers are completing meaningful projects

College Support

  • Assist GRMS alumni transition successfully into college

  • Work closely with UTRGV’s ASPIRE program to get GRMS alums enrolled in the program

  • Organize career readiness events/opportunities for alums preparing to graduate from college

  • Assist graduates with internship placements with local companies and businesses

Data Collection and Analysis

  • Work closely with the Graduate Support Council for the NativityMiguel Coalition of Schools to provide requested data for Coalition publications

  • Track graduates to identify how many have completed high school, enrolled in college, and completed college

  • Provide information to the Advancement Department so that they may prepare proposals and reports to funders. This includes data on all program activities, student accomplishments, and program expenditures

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Education or Counseling

  • Strong interpersonal/human relations skills

  • Strong verbal and professional written skills

  • Positive, enthusiastic mindset with a strong commitment to our mission

  • Ability to manage many projects simultaneously

  • Must be able to work both independently and closely with a team

  • Ability to speak and write in Spanish is preferred.

Salary & Benefits

  • $30,000-$35,000 depending on experience and qualifications

  • 100% coverage of Medical and Dental insurance
